In This Volume

For both corporate transferors and transferees, the registrar requires incorporation or registration numbers for corporations that are subject to the Business Corporations Act or, for other corporations, the name of the corporation’s governing jurisdiction.

Incorporation Number on Instrument Mandatory

Section 150(2) of the Land Title Act provides that, where a party to an instrument is a corporation, either as a transferor or a transferee, the registrar may require that its incorporation number be stated after its name on an instrument produced for registration. The registrar’s practice is to require inclusion of the incorporation number.

Registration Number

In the case of a corporation that is registered extraprovincially or continued in British Columbia, the British Columbia registration number must be stated in place of the incorporation number.

Corporations Not Incorporated or Registered in British Columbia

The name of the governing jurisdiction of a corporation must be included for a corporation that is not incorporated or registered in British Columbia. For example:

FOREIGN LOAN COMPANY INC., A HONG KONG CORPORATION HAVING AN OFFICE AT 7000 STANLEY PLACE, KOWLOON, HONG KONG, AND A POSTAL ADDRESS OF POSTAL BOX 755600, KOWLOON, HONG KONG.
