GENERAL EFFECT ON LAND TITLE PRACTICE

Part 14 sets out the powers of a local government with respect to the management or regulation of development.

Several provisions in this Part, notably ss. 499, 503 and 521, provide for the registration of a notice in the land title office with respect to permits issued by or agreements entered into by local governments for the development or use of land. In addition, s. 514 provides for the registration of a covenant under s. 219 of the Land Title Act as a condition for subdivision approval to provide a residence for a relative and s. 546 enables a local government to amend a land use contract registered under s. 219 of the Land Title Act.
